2026 eBay fee calculator for US sellers

See how much eBay may take from one eBay.com sale—and what may be left in your payout. This 2026 eBay seller fee calculator applies the selected US category and Store schedule, shows each modeled fee as a separate line, and can work backward from the payout you want.

Enter the total sale amount eBay uses—not just your item price

For most US orders, eBay calculates the final value fee on the total amount of the sale. Under eBay's US selling-fee guidance, that normally means the item price plus handling, shipping charged to the buyer, sales tax, and other applicable amounts. If your item sells for $80, the buyer pays $10 shipping, and $7 sales tax is collected, enter $97—not $80.

The calculator then applies the category rate and a per-order charge. The charge is $0.30 for an order of $10.00 or less and $0.40 for an order over $10.00. Shipping exceptions can apply in certain eBay International Shipping and Authenticity Guarantee situations.

How this eBay final value fee calculator builds the estimate

The headline final value fee is only the starting point. First choose the listing's category and Store level. Then add an ad rate, international fee, or seller performance fee only if it applies. The result keeps these charges separate, so you can see why the effective percentage may exceed the category rate.

Promoted Listings General is sale-based here. Under eBay's General campaign guidance, use the ad rate active when the item sold if eBay attributed the sale to an eligible promoted listing interaction. Priority campaigns charge by click and are outside this calculator. If you only need to test one custom rate, use the percentage fee calculator.

Final value fee by category

Applies the supported category's tiered or whole-sale rate instead of using one generic percentage for every item.

Promoted listing fee

Adds your General campaign ad rate to the same total sale amount when an attributed ad fee applies.

International and performance fees

Adds the selected US international or Seller Hub performance charge as its own fee line, using the conditions and rates in eBay's US selling-fee guidance.

eBay fees vary by category—and a Store can change the schedule

No Store and Starter Store sellers share one schedule for the category groups modeled here. Basic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise subscribers use the published eBay Store fee schedule. A Store may lower the rate or change the threshold. This estimate does not assign the monthly subscription charge to one order.

Tiered categories apply the next rate only to the portion above a threshold. Whole-amount categories select one rate for the entire sale based on its total. The calculator preserves this difference for supported categories, including trading cards, coins, watches, athletic shoes, guitars, and heavy equipment.

Use payout and reverse pricing to protect your margin

In the standard calculation, the estimated payout is the total sale amount minus the modeled eBay fees. This is not a complete eBay profit calculator because it does not subtract your item cost, postage you buy, packaging, returns, income tax, or other business expenses. Reverse mode can act as an eBay break-even calculator when you set the target payout high enough to cover those costs.

In reverse mode, enter the payout you want. The calculator tests the same category thresholds and optional fees to find the smallest cent-level total sale amount that reaches that target. A threshold may change the rate for part or all of the sale, so the answer can differ from a simple percentage gross-up. For a provider-neutral calculation, use the reverse fee calculator.

01

Before you list

Use the reverse eBay fee calculator to estimate the minimum total sale amount needed for your target payout.

02

After the sale

Compare the line-by-line estimate with your eBay financial statement, then account for inventory and fulfillment costs to judge actual profit.

Based on current US rules, with the limits stated clearly

Fee rules were checked against eBay's US selling fees, Store selling fees, and General campaign strategy pages. The calculator covers USD listings on eBay.com for US-registered sellers and the category groups available above.

Fee Calculators maps the published rates and thresholds into cent-based rules. Automated tests check fee totals, amounts immediately below and above supported thresholds, per-order charges on both sides of $10.00, whole-amount rate changes, and cent-minimal reverse results. Each percentage fee is rounded half up to the nearest cent. This rule version incorporates eBay's July 1, 2026 seller-performance fee changes and was reviewed July 23, 2026. Read our calculation methodology or report a calculation difference.

This calculator is designed for a single-item order. For a multi-item checkout, eBay may calculate the category-based final value fee separately for each item while charging one per-order fee for the checkout, so entering the entire order under one category may be inaccurate. The estimate also excludes listing charges such as insertion fees, Store subscriptions, optional upgrades, discounts, disputes, refunds, fee credits, taxes on seller fees, currency conversion, Priority campaign clicks, vehicles, Real Estate, classified ads, and account-specific terms. Confirm the exact category and compare the result with your eBay statement when accuracy matters.

No separate PayPal or managed payments processing fee is added. eBay's US schedule says payment processing is included in the final value fee. For transactions that use PayPal outside this eBay fee model, use the PayPal fee calculator. Calculations run locally in your browser. eBay seller fee calculator FAQ

Quick answers about US final value fees, shipping, sales tax, category rates, and target-payout pricing.

1

How much does eBay take from a sale?

There is no single percentage for every sale. The total depends on the category, sale amount, Store level, and optional fees. For a $100 US sale in most categories with no Store or added fees, the estimate is $14.00: a 13.6% final value fee plus the $0.40 per-order charge.

2

Does eBay charge fees on shipping?

Usually, yes. Buyer-paid shipping and handling normally count toward the total amount used to calculate the final value fee. Certain shipping programs and scenarios can have exceptions.

3

Does eBay charge fees on sales tax?

eBay's US fee guidance says sales tax normally forms part of the total amount of the sale used for the final value fee. Include it in the amount entered when it is covered by the rule for your order.

4

How are eBay final value fees calculated by category?

A tiered schedule gives each portion of the sale its own rate. A whole-amount band selects one rate based on the sale total. Store subscribers may use different rates or thresholds.

5

Are eBay fees lower with a Store subscription?

Basic and higher Store subscriptions use a separate category fee schedule that is often lower than the no-Store or Starter schedule. This calculator models the per-sale schedule but does not allocate the monthly Store subscription cost to the order.

6

Does this calculator add PayPal or managed payments fees?

No. eBay's current US guidance says the final value fee includes payment processing. Adding a separate PayPal or old managed payments fee would count that cost twice.

7

How much should I list an item for to receive a target amount after eBay fees?

Use reverse mode, enter your target payout, and select the category, Store level, and optional fees that apply. The result finds the minimum cent-level total sale amount estimated to leave that payout after the modeled eBay fees.
